She is the defending champion and the number 2 seed of the upcoming 2010 U.S. Open. And she is undoubtedly one of the best female tennis players ever. But to Kim Clijsters, there are more important things than just hitting balls over a net.

The Belgian player considers herself a mother first, then an athlete. Clijsters has a 2.5 year old daughter named Jada and nobody in the stadium or in front of the TV will forget when the little toddler jumped around the court after her mom beat Caroline Wozniacki in the 2009 U.S. Open finals.

Kim Clijsters has her priorities. In a recent interview with the Associated Press she explained her philosophy of maintaining a healthy balance in life. If she feels that she wants to spend time with her daughter, no work-out routine, coach or trainer can hold her back from taking an afternoon off of tennis practice.
