According to the Associated Press, at 11:30 PM Friday night, police noticed what appeared to be marijuana smoke streaming out of a car in Las Vegas. When they pulled the car over, they saw what they thought may be drugs on Hilton. When tested later, the drug found was confirmed to be cocaine.

“Officers noticed a vehicle leaving a smoke trail of a controlled substance (and) made a stop based on that,” said Marcus Martin of the Las Vegas police.

The car was being driven by a friend of Hilton’s who was arrested for driving under the influence of drugs. No further details about the man are currently available.

Hilton was booked on a cocaine charge into the Clark County Detention Center but was later released.

Earlier this summer, the socialite was arrested on suspicion of possession of marijuana following a World Cup match in Port Elizabeth, South Africa, for which the case was dropped. In 2007, she pleaded no contest to reckless driving associated with alcohol resulting in a 45 day jail sentence of which she served 23 days.
