During a smooth flight on Tuesday between London and Hong Kong, an announcement terrified passengers.

According to reports, the 275 passengers on the plane were told to brace themselves because the plane was about to crash into the sea. The message was an automated emergency message.

One passenger onboard said, “We all thought we were going to die.”

Traumatized passengers were reassured quickly by flight attendants that the recording was played in error and that there was no impending danger.

British Airways is investigating the incident and trying to determine the cause. However, in 1999 a similar incident occurred when a passenger thought it would be funny if he pushed the automated crash message button during a flight between San Francisco and London.

The flight landed without incident and all onboard safely made it to their destination.
