When Andy Murray entered the senior tour a little more than four years ago, experts said that he will become a future grand slam champion. And one day prior to the official start of the 2010 U.S. Open, Murray made it very clear that he believes his time has now come.

The Scottish tennis star has already made it into two major finals. In 2008 he reached the Open final and earlier this year he played for the Australian Open title. However, he lost both matches to Roger Federer.

But on his way to the title in Toronto earlier this month, he beat both, Federer and Nadal. Therefore, the 23-year old stated that he feels that he is close to a major breakthrough.

Murray told the media in an interview at Flushing Meadows that his confidence is based on the fact that there are only very small differences between him and the top players, and nothing drastic would have to change to beat them. He is hopeful that he will play some of his best tennis over the upcoming two weeks to claim his first U.S. Open title.
