Caroline Wozniacki wins 2010 Pilot Pen title
Caroline Wozniacki is in top shape and full of confidence for the 2010 U.S. Open. The Danish tennis star won her third consecutive Pilot Pen title on Saturday by defeating the eight-seed Nadia Petrova in three sets, 6-3, 3-6 and 6-3.
Earlier this week on Monday, Wozniacki won the rain delayed Montreal tournament title. In an interview with the media, she said that she feels great about her four won titles this year.
Petrova had entered the event through a wild-card. After losing the first set she managed to find her way back into her game and equalized the score. However, in the third, Wozniacki took an early 2-0 lead and Petrova had to be treated for back problems.
Despite her loss, Petrova is satisfied with her 2010 Pilot Pen performance and will go confidently into the New York tournament.
In the men’s draw, Sergiy Stakhovsky won over Denis Istomin 3-6, 6-3 and 6-4 to claim his second tournament title this season.
