Paul Annacone to coach Roger Federer at 2010 U.S. Open
On Saturday, the Swiss tennis star Roger Federer announced that he will work with Pete Sampras’ former coach Paul Annacone during the 2010 U.S. Open. On his website Federer stated that he and Annacone started to spend time together about a month ago to find out whether they would make a good fit. So at this point in time, the project has evolved from a test trial into making Annacone an integral part of the team.
Annacone has a long track record of a successful coaching history, including gigs with Pete Sampras, Marat Safin and Tim Henman. He helped Sampras to get a total of nine of his major titles.
Federer will start the 2010 U.S. Open as the no. 2-seeded player and he will try to claim his sixth New York title. He has not missed a final since 2004 and only lost one title match, when he was defeated by Juan Martin Del Potro in 2009.
