Son of a Beatle forms a band
Dhani Harrison, son of late Beatle, George Harrison, is forming a band with Ben Harper and Joseph Arthur. They began their endeavor with no songs and three days to record.
“I thought I was going there to add some guitars or harmonies on Joseph’s album,” Harrison said “When I got to the studio, I saw Joe and asked, ‘What songs are we going to do?’ He said we hadn’t written them yet.”
Harrison was invited to record at the session after meeting Harper in Santa Monica at a skate park. According to the guys, Joseph Arthur kept the group moving insisting they complete three songs each day. When the three days came to a close, nine acoustic tracks had been recorded. “As I Call You Down” is the name of the album and the band has decided to call themselves, Fistful of Mercy.
“I never thought we’d pull off an entire album, [I thought] maybe we’d get an EP,” Harper said. “The three of us were able to create something we never could have done on our own.”
No word yet on when the album will be released but Fistful of Mercy takes to the road in October.
