Caroline Wozniacki breezes through 2010 U.S. Open second round
She’s one of the favorites and she makes sure that nobody will doubt that right from the start. Caroline Wozniacki had a short working day. In her second round 2010 U.S. Open match she punished Chan Kai-Chen in two straight sets with 6-0 and 6-0.
Wozniacki’s performance was impressive. Last year she surprised everybody when she reached the Open final, but since then she has established herself as one of the top female players. Today’s match only lasted for 47 minutes. This was her 11th straight win.
The Danish tennis star will now play Chan Yung-Jan, another Taiwanese player. In the following round, she could theoretically meet former champion Maria Sharapova, who is scheduled to play her next match against Iveta Benesova in Thursday’s night session.
However, her third round opponent Chan just won over Tamira Paszek from Austria with 6-3 and 6-3 and Wozniacki will probably face more resistance from her.
