Darren Aronofsky Wants To Direct Wolverine Sequel

According to Deadline, Requiem for a Dream director Darren Aronofsky has thrown his name into the hat to direct the upcoming Wolverine 2. A couple of weeks ago it was reported that directors David Slade (30 Days of Night) and Robert Schwentke (The Time Travellers Wife) were the only two names on the directorial short list and that Fox were just waiting until Hugh Jackman himself chose one of them to helm the sequel but now it seems that Robert Schwentke has withdrawn his name from the hat and no longer wants to be considered.

And that’s when Aronofsky saw his opportunity to put his name forward. Aronofsky has the benefit of having already worked with Wolverine star Hugh Jackman in 2006’s The Fountain.

Wolverine 2 is scheduled for release sometime next year and is expected to be set in Japan and see Wolverine fall in love with some chick which undoubtedly winds someone up enough to want to kill him. You know, typical Logan stuff…
