On the Billboard 200 chart, Katy Perry’s latest release “Teenage Dream” debuted at number 1. This marks the end of Eminem’s reign in the top spot.

In its first week, Perry’s newest album sold 192,000 copies. The title track from the CD, “Teenage Dream” heads the list on the Digital Songs chart.

The Billboard top spot has been ruled by male artists since last January when Ke$ha’s “Animal” ruled for a week.

Katy Perry has topped the charts before. “I Kissed a Girl,” her second single was an international chart topper. In 2008 her first mainstream album “One of the Boys” was the thirty-third best selling album of the year globally.

“I Kissed a Girl” and her follow up single “Hit n Cold” both went platinum ranking Perry as the 97th Artist of the decade from 2000-2010.

The singer has adopted her own look and is known for her unconventional sense of style.
