Mark Millar Says Kick-Ass 2 Is A Go

It looks like we could be getting a sequel to this year’s smash hit superhero movie Kick-Ass a lot sooner than we expected. In an interview with BBC Radio Five Live, Kick-Ass creator Mark Millar revealed that estimates suggest that Kick-Ass will make up to 150 million through DVD sales and it is because of that figure that the studio has greenlit Kick-Ass 2.

“The estimate is [Kick-Ass] will do 100 to 150 million on DVD based on the American sales. So it’ll end up making a quarter of a billion on a 28 million investment. So It should be okay. So the sequel’s greenlit, we can go ahead and do the follow up now, you know. The first made so much compared to what it cost it would be crazy not to.”

Of course, it’s nice that Mark Millar has revealed that Kick-Ass 2 has been greenlit but I won’t get too excited until I see a statement from the studios. I would love to see Kick-Ass 2 but despite its ending which (spoilers!) obviously opened the door for a sequel, I can’t help but feel that Kick-Ass would be better off as a standalone movie.
