Beatrice Capra to play Maria Sharapova at 2010 U.S. Open
When Maria Sharapova took a first glance at her 2010 U.S. Open draw, she probably did not expect to meet up with the 18-year old Beatrice Capra in the third round. Capra, who is currently ranked 371st, is pretty much on the road to repeating what Melanie Oudin achieved last year.
Sharapova won the 2006 U.S. Open singles title. The 23-year old Russian also won an Australian Open and Wimbledon title.
Capra, who is a member of the Evert Tennis Academy in Florida, received a call from USTA officials a few weeks back ago, asking if she would be interested in a play-off sport for a wild-card.
She on the match, received her wild-card and now is in the main draw of a Grand Slam event. After winning her opener against Karolina Sprem, the young American looks forward to the match against Sharapova, whom she admires and highly respects.
