According to Heat Vision, former WWE Superstar turned Hollywood actor Dwayne Johnson (The Rock) is in talks to take over from Brendan Fraser for the sequel to 2008′s Journey To The Centre of the Earth. Apparently, New Line are trying to woo Johnson as we speak after Brendan Fraser walked away from the project earlier in the year.

Josh Hutcherson has signed up for the sequel and it is thought that should Johnson agree terms with New Line then he will play the boyfriend of Hutcherson’s on-screen mom and will find himself dragged on an adventure to find Hutcherson’s missing grandfather.

Also according to Heat Vision, the story for Journey to the Centre of the Earth 2 will be loosely based on another of Jules Verne’s famous novels; The Mysterious Island which if true means that we can expect to see the title change for the sequel.
