Victoria Azarenka and her partner Dinara Safina pulled out of the 2010 U.S. Open women’s doubles competition, one day after Azarenka collapsed on the court. The Russian players were scheduled to play Cara Black and Anastasia Rodinova in their first round of doubles on Thursday.

Tournament officials had to make re-arrangements and the ninth-seeded pair Black-Rodinova will now play Alberta Brianti and Urszula Radwanksa. The 21-year old and 10th-seeded Azarenka had to stop playing after she suddenly staggered and fell down on Wednesday during her second-round singles match. It was a shock to everybody in the stadium. She was then put in a wheelchair and admitted to a hospital where test came back indicating a mild concussion. Azarenka explained that she had banged her head while warming up in the gym prior to the match. According to her, there is no need to worry and she will definitely continue playing in the singles event.
