Roger Federer in 2010 U.S. Open third round
Roger Federer has the routine of not letting himself be too bothered by less than perfect playing conditions. The wind gusts caused many players major trouble yesterday at Arthur Ashe and the other courts, but Federer advanced easily to the fourth round of the 2010 U.S. Open by beating Frenchman Paul-Henri Mathieu 6-4, 6-3 and 6-3.
The pressure is now on his rival Rafael Nadal who according to Federer, must win the U.S. Open to go down in history as one of the greatest players ever. The Swiss tennis icon has won all of the Grand Slam events at least one time, but Rafael Nadal is still chasing after the Open title and it’s almost a curse that he never made it to the finals in New York.
However, the fact that Nadal is five years younger than Federer, gives the Spaniard a realistic shot in completing his collection of Grand Slam wins, even if it doesn’t work out this year.
