When Caroline Wozniacki was a child she dreamed of being Anna Kournikova one day. The Danish tennis star has since evolved and is now the top-seeded female player at the 2010 U.S. Open. These days, there is not much time for admiring others. She is on a mission to win.

The 20-year old eliminated Taiwan’s Chan Yung-Jan of Taiwan on Saturday with a crushing 6-1 and 6-0 to advance to the fourth round. She will now meet with the former women’s single champion Maria Sharapova on Labor-Day.

When asked about Sharapova, Wozniacki made it clear how much respect she has for the Russian. However, she still cites Anna Kournikova as her idol. She had the looks, she knew how to handle herself on and off the court, plus she played excellent tennis.

The Dane benefited from Serena Williams’ withdrawal because of her foot injury. That made her the favorite for this year’s Open title.
