Hilary Duff To Play Gwen Stacey In Spider-Man Reboot?

It looks like Hilary Duff could be up for the role of Gwen Stacey in the upcoming Spider-Man reboot. This latest rumour stems from an interview in which Hilary Duff’s NHL Hockey player hubby Mike Comrie was talking with The Globe and Mail.

Apparently, during the interview, which took place in Duff and Comrie’s house, the eagle-eyed interviewer spotted a Spider-Man script on the coffee table. Here’s a copy and paste jobbie from the article…

“The kitchen contains evidence of their professional lives – his daily diet is posted on the fridge (from a bacon cheddar burrito for breakfast to five pigs-in-a-blanket as a nighttime snack) and a script marked Spiderman sits on the table, with lines for a character simply called “girl” highlighted in yellow (rumours swirl about who Spidey’s love interest will be in the series’ next instalment.)”

So where did I get the Gwen Stacey link from? Well, I just made it up actually but if you think about it, with the news that the upcoming Spider-Man reboot will be without Peter Parker’s soul mate Mary Jane Watson, who else could it be?

Just because she has the script, doesn’t mean that she is a contender. A lot of actors get scripts that they never really pursue. Had she not left it on the coffee table, we probably would have never known whether or not she was a contender.

But I don’t see it happening. I mean if she was seriously considered, we would know by now. The actresses who auditioned were revealed instantly. She may have gotten ahold of the script months ago, but was never asked to audition. The only actresses confirmed to be in the running are Teresa Palmer, Imogen Poots, Lily Collins, Ophelia Lovibound, and Emma Roberts. Clearly they want an unknown actress. While Duff has been out of the game for awhile, she is still known by many. She may be a hasbeen, but she isn’t an unknown. I doubt any of this is true and expect her agent to say that this is all a rumor.
