Alisa Kleybanova wins 2010 Korea Open

Alisa Kleybanova of Russia won Sunday’s 2010 Korea Open title match against Klara Zakopalova of the Czech Republic in two straight set with 6-1 and 6-3.

Zakopalova had problems with Kleybanova’s powerful baseline shots and her service. The Russian took a comfortable 5-0 lead in the first set before her opponent won her first game. Kleybanova received a prize check of over $37,000 and told the press in an interview after the match that she was very appreciative of the support she got from the many Russian fans who came to the see the event.

Zakopalova had her chance to level the match when she took a 3-1 lead in the second set. However, she did not manage to keep Kleybanova off balance and allowed her to find her way back to her game.

This was Kleybanova’s second career title win after she also won the Kuala Lumpur tournament earlier this year.
