Robin Soderling of Sweden will be the top-seeded player at the 2010 Malaysia Open starting on Monday.

Nikolay Davydenko of Russia won the title last year and will enter the draw as the second-seed.

Soderling has high hopes to achieve a better result this time – last year he was ousted in the semis of the Kuala Lumpur tournament.

Both, Soderling and Davydenko received first round byes and will play their openers on Tuesday.

Originally, Lleyton Hewitt of Australia was scheduled to play the event, but he had to withdraw because of an injury he sustained during Australia’s Davis Cup match against Belgium last week. It is unclear when he will be able to play tournaments again.

Soderling played well in his Davis Cup matches where he won both of the singles in Lidkoping in Sweden’s 3-2 victory over Italy last weekend.

Si Yew Ming of Malaysia was awarded a wild card by the tournament organizers since Hewitt withdrew.
