The Dutch Thiemo de Bakke and Viktor Troicki of Serbia both won their first round matches at the 2010 Thailand Open. De Bakker who is sixth-seeded won in two straight sets with 7-5 and 6-0 over the Spaniard Marc Lopez, only struggling with a little lapse in the first set.

Troicki who reached the event final in 2009 and is starting as the seventh-seeded player, had no problems in defeating the Swiss Marco Chiudinelli in two sets with 6-3 and 6-1. The 22-year old will now have to face Daniel Brands of Germany who ousted Illya Marchenko of Ukraine.

In the other first round match on Monday, Frenchman Florent Serra defeated Teymuraz Gabashvili in three close sets with 6-7 (1), 6-4, 6-4. Rafael Nadal received a first round bye alongside three other top players.
