Rumors have been circulating for months about whether or not Max Weinberg would be going along with Conan O’Brien to his new TBS show. It is now official that he will not be going. Instead Jimmy Vivino will lead the house musicians. This is not a new role for the guitarist who often filled in for Weinberg when he went out on tour with Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band.

A long time on-air substitute for Weinberg, James Wormworth, will now become the full-time drummer for the group.
Steve Van Zandt, guitarist for the E Street Band told Rolling Stone magazine, “I don’t know why Max and Conan aren’t together anymore. But whatever, they had some good years, and Conan gave Max credit for keeping the show on the air for the first two years. That was nice. He was a big fan of the band and he didn’t want to mess around with that too much. He was quite good to us over the years.”
