In a recent interview with Rolling Stone magazine, President Obama called the cable news outlet, Fox News “destructive to [America’s] long-term growth.”

The President likened the cable news channel to publications available at the turn of the 20th century such as those owned by William Randolph Hearst. In the interview Obama said that those publications concentrated more on pushing their own political views rather than reporting the news in an objective manner.

“You had folks like Hearst who used their newspapers very intentionally to promote their viewpoints. I think Fox is part of that tradition – it is part of the tradition that has a very clear, undeniable point of view,” said Obama.
White House officials have had ongoing issues with the views of Fox. Last year they said that the cable news channel is, “opinion journalism masquerading as news.”

Fox News is owned by media mogul, Rupert Murdoch.
