Well known film editor found dead
Sally Menke, film editor for Quentin Tarantino, was found dead early Tuesday morning on a hiking trail in Los Angeles’ Griffith Park.
According to police, the exact cause of death is not yet known, but the 57-year-old had been hiking with a friend on the hottest day ever recorded in Los Angeles. The weather service said that temperatures hit 113 degrees on Monday afternoon. Menke and the friend that she had been hiking with were separated. When the friend could not find Menke at the end of the hiking trail, she called police.
Lt. Cheryl MacWillie, coroner spokesperson, said that the heat may not have been the only cause of death. An autopsy will reveal whether there was a pre-existing condition that could have contributed.
Menke is known for her editing on several films by Quentin Tarantino. She was nominated for Academy Awards for her work in both “Inglourious Basterds” and “Pulp Fiction.”
