Sad news hit the comedy scene yesterday as it was announced that comedian Greg Giraldo died at the young age of 44.  He was hospitalized 5 days prior to his death after he was found unconscious in a New Brunswick hotel room.  Comedians all over are paying their respects and some are dealing with this loss via Twitter.   Sarah Silverman tweeted “RIP Greg Giraldo. Belly-laugh hilarious, prolific, good & kind. A Thousand oys can’t express”.

He was best known for his rants and insulting type of humor which made him a well known fixture amongst Comedy Centrals roast series and for his appearances on The Howard Stern Show and Jerry Seinfeld’s “The Marriage Ref”.  At the beginning of Howard Sterns show this morning he said “He was funny as hell”.  Greg Giraldo battled with drugs and alcohol for a long time and at one point announced on “Late Night with Conan O’Brien” that he had quit drinking.  This is an unfortunate loss in the comedy world and he will be remembered for a long time to come.
