Peggy Will Never Return To Albert Square
Eastenders star Barbara Windsor has revealed that she will never return to Albert Square despite asking Eastenders bosses not to kill off her character Peggy Mitchell. In an interview with Piers Morgan for his Life Stories series, the former Carry On star admitted that it was selfish of her to ask the writers not to kill her off.
Windsor, who made her last appearance on the soap earlier this month revealed…
“It was a bit selfish of me but I didn’t want to be killed off,” she said. “I am never going to go back but I like to think that she’s still out there somewhere.”
She then confessed that it was her husband Scott who helped her make the decision to walk away from the London based soap…
“Scott said I wasn’t switching off,” she said. “I was Peggy 24 hours a day. It was taking over my life. It was so hard; we were all great friends. I love that show, and I miss the camaraderie.”
You can watch the interview with Piers on October 9th on ITV 1.
