Max Weinberg will not join Conan’s new show
Rumors have been circulating for months about whether or not Max Weinberg would be going along with Conan O’Brien to his new TBS show. It is now official that he will not be going. Instead Jimmy Vivino will lead the house musicians. This is not a new role for the guitarist who often filled in for Weinberg when he went out on tour with Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band. A long time on-air substitute for Weinberg, James Wormworth, will now become the full-time drummer for the group. “Wall Street” leads the weekend box office
“Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps ruled the box office during its opening weekend. The sequel by Oliver Stone starring Michael Douglas and Shia LeBeouf, raked in $19 million over its first three-day weekend. Coming in second place was another newcomer, “Legend of the Guardians: The Owls of Ga’Hoole” with a weekend gross of $16.3 million. This animated feature film stars the voices of Anthony LaPaglia, Helen Mirren, Sam Neill, Geoffrey Rush and Abbie Cornish among others. The Ben Affleck film, “The Town,” finished in third place with $16 million bringing its total take so far up to $49 million. James Heselden, Segway vehicle company owner dies using one
According to police, James Heselden, 62, was killed in an accident using one of his company vehicles. The body of the Segway company owner was recovered in northern England from the River Wharfe on Sunday. Police say that a Segway vehicle was also taken from the river. The accident is not thought to be suspicious. In a statement released by his family, the said, “there is absolutely nothing to suggest it was anything other than a tragic accident. Our family has been left devastated by the sudden and tragic loss of a much-loved father and husband. During the fourth song of her set on Sunday night at the Formula 1 Singtel Singapore Grand Prix, Mariah Carey took a tumble. According to reports, the singer slipped wearing high heels while she strutted on stage to her hit song, “Make It Happen.” One of Carey’s dancers quickly ran over to her side to help her back to her feet. Troicki and de Bakker advance to second round of 2010 Thailand Open
The Dutch Thiemo de Bakke and Viktor Troicki of Serbia both won their first round matches at the 2010 Thailand Open. De Bakker who is sixth-seeded won in two straight sets with 7-5 and 6-0 over the Spaniard Marc Lopez, only struggling with a little lapse in the first set. Troicki who reached the event final in 2009 and is starting as the seventh-seeded player, had no problems in defeating the Swiss Marco Chiudinelli in two sets with 6-3 and 6-1.
