Sherlock Production Not Harmed By Martin Freeman Hobbit Casting

There has been some speculation of late that Martin Freeman’s recent casting in The Hobbit movies has caused a rift between him and the creator of BBC’s Sherlock.

It was thought that Freeman’s participation in Peter Jackson’s The Hobbit would cause Sherlock’s production schedule to be messed around.

Well, according to a Tweet on Mark Gatiss’s Twitter account, Freeman’s involvement on the Lord of the Rings prequels will have no adverse effects on Sherlock…

“Huge congratulations to the brilliant Martin Freeman on becoming Bilbo Baggins! No change to Sherlock schedule, I’m glad to say.”

The Hobbit movies, there will be two of them, are scheduled for release in December 2012 and December 2013 while the next series of Sherlock is due next year so by the looks of it Martin Freeman is going to be a busy little Hobbit.

It was rumoured last month that MGM had changed the production schedule for the Hobbit in order to accommodate director Peter Jackson’s first choice.
