Hot on the heels of Christopher Nolan’s Batman 3 title reveal comes Tom Cruise with his own new movie title. Cruise revealed in an interview with Collider that the upcoming Mission Impossible 4 will be called Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol.

He also added that the majority of the fourth Ethan Hunt adventure will take place primarily in Dubai. He even had time to push away those Top Gun 2 rumours.

On filming MI4 in Dubai, and in particular The Burj Khalifa Tower…

“I’ll be spending many days, many hours on the side of this building. I can’t give you details, but I will be up there.”

On Top Gun 2…

“Those things are a long way off. It takes a long time to figure out stuff.”

Finally, director Brad Bird added that he is excited to be in charge of the first major Hollywood movie to be predominantly set in Dubai…

“We love the fact that it’s a big, new city, that it hasn’t been photographed very much…It’s almost like sets that you could never afford.”

Not sure about that title. Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol? Sounds like a crappy video game spin-off more than a Hollywood blockbuster movie. I am amazed that they didn’t decide to go the reboot route with MI4 as Tom Cruise’s status as a box office star isn’t what it used to be. For me, MI2 and MI3 were big disappointments so I’m not in any particular rush to watch this movie though I must admit to being somewhat intrigued by the fact that it is being directed by Pixar director Brad Bird.
