Spotify Plays Down Apple Buy Out Talk
Spotify have decided to end the rumours that they are about to be bought out by Apple once and for all. In an interview with Newsbeat, a spokesperson for the digital music streaming service revealed that Spotify execs have no plans to sell their business to Apple…
“We’re working hard to build the best music service we can and are in this for the long haul. We wouldn’t normally comment on this kind of speculation, but we want to make it clear that we have absolutely no intention of selling Spotify.”
Spotify is available across certain parts of Europe. At this moment in time there is no news on when, if ever, they plan to launch the service in the US. There were rumours that Spotify would launch in the US this year, Q3 in fact. Not sure what’s happening with that…
<<<THOUGHTS>>>
I will be very surprised if Spotify is still with us this time next year. If they don’t fold by then I’m pretty sure that they will sell to someone like Apple. There is a reason why Spotify and Apple found their names linked together in headlines and I believe it is only a matter of time before they merge, or more likely, Apple consumes them. The Spotify service is absolutely amazing, it is so good that it just cannot last. Every day I thank the Internet Gods for creating the service but I must admit that I haven’t bought a music album since I started paying for Spotify. There’s no need to anymore. Why do I get the feeling that I am stealing every time I use Spotify?

‘Why do I get the feeling that I am stealing every time I use Spotify?’ – I suggest paying the £10 monthly, that feeling of guilt goes away very quickly. A great service that everybody should pay for to keep it from folding.

I think you’ll find that the author already stated that she pays for it –
“but I must admit that I haven’t bought a music album since I started paying for Spotify.”
