Mark Ruffalo To Use Bill Bixby Approach To Portraying Banner
In an interview with Digital Spy, the new Hulk Mark Ruffalo has been talking about the approach he plans to take with everybody’s favourite not-so-jolly green giant in Joss Whedon’s upcoming superhero spectacular; The Avengers.
In particular it seems that Ruffalo is going to take his inspiration from Bill Bixby’s portrayal of the character in the 1970’s TV show The Incredible Hulk…
“We want him to be an everyman, not so dour. A little more charming or accessible. We’re still sort of working it out with the script. I’m not exactly sure what it’ll end up being but we’ve talked quite a bit about the Bill Bixby version of the Hulk.”
<<<THOUGHTS>>>
This is amazing news for Hulk fans. For me, Bill Bixby nailed the role of Dr David Bruce Banner. I have watched every episode of the 70’s TV show and while Lou Ferrigno was a definite highlight of the iconic show, as a kid I used to watch it for Bill Bixby. You really got the impression that he was a tortured soul. I absolutely love that Ruffalo is looking at Bixby and if anyone can pull off Bixby’s take then Ruffalo can.
