It looks like British actress Kelly Brook is being lined up to star in the proposed TV remake of the cult 70’s series Charlie’s Angels.

According to a source close to the star, Brook is being lined up by the show’s producers Miles Millar and Al Gough after they worked with her on Smallville…

“Al and Miles know Kelly from their time on Smallville and they think she is a star in the making. Rather than cast established stars, producers want to find less well-known actresses and turn them into household names – just like they did in the 1970s with Kate Jackson, Farrah Fawcett and Jaclyn Smith. Kelly fits the bill. She’s gorgeous, feisty, athletic, a good actress and – most importantly – the producers think American viewers will love her.”

I’ll say it now, there is no way the Charlie’s Angels remake gets a second season. Thing is, Drew Barrymore was able to get the movie version to work because she knew that at its core, Charlie’s Angels was about glamour and cheese, two ingredients that make blockbuster movies but the flip-side of that coin is that glamour and cheese very rarely do the same for TV shows these days.

I just cannot see a female-based spy show working in this day and age. If Bionic Woman and Alias didn’t get the viewing figures then what makes anyone think that a new version of Charlie’s Angels will?
