Every week X-Factor contestant Wagner turns in increasingly worse performances and every week he is kept in the competition by the public vote.

His continued participation in the completion is thought to greatly annoy X-Factor boss Simon Cowell and apparently, it’s Wagner’s ability to get under Cowell’s skin that is seen as the real reason why the “singer” is still in the competition.

It is thought that the public are voting in their thousands to keep Wagner in the competition just to throw a spanner in the well-oiled X-Factor machine.

Indeed, Wagner-Mania is sweeping the country. There is even an iPhone app called Pocket Wagner and a Facebook group has been set up that has over 30,000 members all dedicated to keeping Wagner in the competition.

In fact, such is the public support for Wagner that bookmakers William Hill have slashed his odds of winning from 100/1 to 14/1.

I’d like to think that if I was Wagner and it came out that people were only keeping me in the competition because I was a novelty act which just so happened to annoy Simon Cowell then, I’d like to think that I would walk.

Surely nobody actually WANTS to be a laughing stock?
