X Factor Star Cher Lloyd Fed Up Of Racist Name Calling
X-Factor contestant Cher Lloyd has revealed that she is surprised that people are able to make fun of her roots and no one considers it racist.
Lloyd, who was raised as a traveller is amazed that people can just call her a “pikey” and other derogatory names based on her roots and no calls them up on it.
In an interview with The Metro, Lloyd revealed that she is proud of her Romani roots…
“That’s something I’m very proud of. I’m never going to forget my heritage, no matter what. I hate that people can say you’re a pikey and it’s not even considered racist. Romanies haven’t had much of a chance to speak up or be in the public eye – I want to make a start.”
<<<THOUGHTS>>>
She’s got a point. How did the tabloids get away with some of their headlines regarding Cher Lloyd without anyone picking them up on it?
Seriously though, in an ideal world we wouldn’t know what kind of upbringing Cher Lloyd had let alone what her cultural roots are.
