Tom Cruise To Hand Over Mission Impossible Franchise To Jeremy Renner?

According to SWAT star Jeremy Renner, he could one day take over the Mission Impossible franchise from Tom Cruise. Last month The Hollywood Reporter revealed that both JJ Abrams and Tom Cruise were thinking of handing over the Mission Impossible franchise…

“To a younger actor, or even to an ensemble.”

In an interview with MTV, Renner confirmed that at the very least, that is what Abrams and Cruise are actively considering…

“I can’t predict the future and what they want, but that’s certainly the idea. It’s a franchise to potentially take over. I can’t predict the future and what they want, but that’s certainly the idea.”

Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol is directed by Pixar director Brad Bird and hits cinemas on December 16th, 2011.

Also, Sawyer from Lost will be in it.

<<<THOUGHTS>>>

This is how I see it: Mission Impossible minus Tom Cruise equals absolutely nobody caring about it. Love him or loathe him Tom Cruise is Mission Impossible, take him out of the equation and the franchise dies.

Seriously, can you really see Jeremy Renner carrying a Mission Impossible movie on his own?

I can’t.
