Grand Theft Auto 5 Not Coming Until 2012 Says Industry Analyst
According to video game analyst Mike Hickey, Grand Theft Auto 5 will be released in 2012.
Yep, that’s ages away. Hickey also predicts that GTA 5 will sell somewhere in the region of seven and a half million copies which translates into about three quarters of a billion dollars.
Next year Take Two will release LA Noire and Max Payne 3 so Hickey doesn’t see publisher Take Two releasing GTA 5 in the same year as they won’t want to take attention away from those two games.
<<<THOUGHTS>>>
Judging from the amazing sales for Red Dead Redemption the appetite for sandbox games is as great as it ever was but they way I see it is that RDR’s successes was more down to the unique setting than any real love for the genre. I’m going to make a pretty risky prediction here, I predict that GTA 5 will not be as successful as Take Two think it will be. There has got to be a time where the GTA series will deliver a flop and I think 2012 is as good a time as any. After the depressing GTA 4 I can’t see how people can get excited about GTA 5.
