Elton John Claims Oasis Never Cracked America Because Of 90s Argument
Elton John has blamed Oasis’s infamous US argument which saw them walk out on a US tour as the reason why the Manchester band never cracked America.
According to Elton John, who was talking with Christian O’Connell on Absolute Radio, UK bands only get one chance to crack the US and Oasis blew theirs with their constant bickering…
“Oasis were enormous in Britain, they were enormous in America and they went over there and argued between themselves and cancelled the tour and they never broke America. You only get it once, and if you blow it, it’s gone. You can’t not regret that. I always thought, ‘You stupid sods. You’ll never get that opportunity again.’”
Elton then said that he believes only the best UK bands make it across the pond and suggested that while Oasis were massive over here, they just weren’t good enough for the US…
“It’s only the cream that rises to the top. It’s always the ones with the best work ethic and the best material and the best attitude. You know, it’s the boys from the men. Coldplay, Muse, U2, Police, all those bands. They’re the men, and all the rest are boys.”

At the end of the day Oasis just weren’t good enough to crack America. Every album sounded the same after Definitely Maybe as they become drunk on their European success. They almost became a joke, smug parodies of their former selves.
Elton John hit the nail on the head when he said only the best crack America.
