X-Factor Final Was The Most Watched TV Programme Of 2010

This year’s X-Factor final was the most watched TV programme of 2010. According to the ratings research company Barb, 17.7 million viewers tuned into to see Matt Cardle crowned X-Factor winner 2010.

The 17.7 million figure does not take into consideration those who “Sky-plussed” it to watch it later so the figure could rise even further.

Second most watched TV programme was the BBC’s coverage of England’s World Cup hammering by the Germans which pulled in 17.4 million viewers.

ITV boss Peter Fincham seemed happy that one of his shows took the top spot…

“If there was ever any doubt about the enduring popularity of high-quality television content broadcast free-to-air to mass audiences, then the last year has laid that to rest.”

<<<THOUGHTS>>>

As much as I don’t want to admit this, The X-Factor final was one of the best TV shows I’ve seen all year. As they say in the biz; they really pulled out all the stops didn’t they?
