Former X-Factor winner Alexandra Burke has hit out at critics of the X-Factor show who refer to the competition as nothing more than a ‘fast-track to fame’.

Burke, who won the 2008 X-Factor competition has scored three UK number one hits since leaving the show told OK…

“Do not judge X Factor contestants. Give them a break. They’re doing a fantastic job.”

She then added…

“I’ve been singing in bars from the age of 9. So anyone that tells me I don’t deserve this position, you’re wrong. Because I’ve worked really hard for it. No-one sees what goes on behind the scenes. Those contestants are up at the crack of dawn and going to bed very, very late and they are doing the best they can and working very, very hard.”

She’s right. Thing is, it’s easy to think that the X-Factor hopefuls are on a fast-track to fame if they just think all there is to the show is the TV portion. Like recent runner-up Rebecca Ferguson stated, the X-Factor competition has consumed her life since March when she first auditioned.

There’s no two ways about it, if you make it to the live shows then you have had to earn your spot and have worked hard to get there.

People who say otherwise are more than likely just jealous.
