Electronic Arts have revealed that they will release a new single-player expansion pack for their survival horror video game Dead Space 2 which is released in the UK this weekend.

The new DLC will be called; “Severed” and will include two brand new standalone chapters which will run parallel to Dead Space 2’s single-player campaign.

Gamers will take control of Gabe Weller (from the Nintendo Wii on-rails shooter Dead Space: Extraction) who is stationed on the Sprawl as a security guard. Also returning from Dead Space: Extraction will be Lexine Murdock.

At this moment in time EA haven’t released much info about the specifics of Dead Space 2: Severance other than it is “coming soon” to both Xbox Live and the Playstation Network.

Dead Space 2, which is the direct sequel to 2008’s Dead Space sees gamers take control of protagonist Isaac Clarke as he fights off mutated monsters in the future.
