It Looks Like The PSP2 2011 Launch Will Not Include Europe
As Han Solo once said; “I’ve got a bad feeling about this”
What have I got a bad feeling about I hear you ask, well, as soon as Sony announced the NGP (or PSP2 if you prefer) I instantly scribbled it down on my Christmas 2011 BETA list. At this moment in time, the list has iPad 2 and the 3DS on it as well as the recently added NGP. Now, as the list is in its BETA stage, there are items on there right now that probably won’t be on there when I officially hand it in at the beginning of October.
Like the iPad 2 for instance, sure I want it but it’s going to cost about 600 quid and that’s pretty much my entire Christmas budget blown on just one gift and call me spoilt but I like to open loads of presents on Christmas day.
So that means, this Christmas, it would make more sense to have a 3DS and an NGP. Two big presents (both around the 250 mark) and just enough left over for some stocking fillers.
BUT!
I live in Europe.
And us Europeans have a history of having to wait a little longer for new video game consoles than the rest of the world and it doesn’t look like that trend is going to stop anytime soon as SCEA boss Jack Tretton revealed that while the NGP (PSP2) is scheduled to be released in Q4 2011, it’s pretty unlikely that it will be released in Europe in 2011. Tretton was talking to Engadget…
“I think our goal is always to launch holidays when the majority of sales are done. You want to have a worldwide simultaneous launch. Having said that, this’ll be our sixth platform launch, and it’s very difficult to have the quantities to be able to launch on a worldwide basis on the same date. So while that’s the goal, the reality might be something different. I think our goal is, we would get at least one territory out by the end of holiday 2011,”
Well aint that a bummer?
