According to Microsoft’s Peter Klein, the Xbox 360 motion capturing add-on Kinect has become the fastest selling consumer electronics device in history.

Klein made the announcement via a conference call and made more than a few mind-blowing revelations. Time for bullet points…

• Kinect has sold a whopping eight million units in its first 60 days on sale
• Kinect has sold faster than any Apple Device.
• Kinect has sold faster than any video game console EVER!
• Kinect has sold faster than, ah, you get the point…
• Kinect has generated an astonishing 3.7 billion dollars in revenue.
• Microsoft sold 6.3 million Xbox 360 video game consoles during the holiday season.
• In 2010, the Xbox 360 saw a growth of 42 per cent in US console market.
• 2010 was the biggest year in the Xbox 360’s life.

And the reason why 2010 was so big? Here’s what Microsoft think you can blame it on…

“The debut of Kinect and smash-hit games like Fable III and Halo: Reach drove Xbox to the biggest year in its history in 2010,”
