Aardman Animations have confirmed that they are developing a Shaun The Sheep movie.

The popular stop motion animated children’s TV series is getting the movie treatment according to BBC News who have reported that writers are currently busying away on the script for the movie which they hope will be released in cinemas by 2013 at the earliest or 2014 at the latest.

Shaun The Sheep’s first appearance was in the 1995 Oscar winning short film; Wallace and Gromit: A Close Shave and is currently the star of his own TV show; Shaun the Sheep which has been on air since 2007 and produced 80 episodes.

Creative director Richard Goleszowski recently revealed that Shaun the Sheep was inspired by the legendary Buster Keaton…

“My goal is to make a modern-day silent movie starring Shaun. When we started writing the television series we stuck a picture of Buster Keaton on the studio door. I grew up watching slapstick films and some of the jokes have become embedded in my psyche.”
