Ron Howard’s Calling It – He Wants Javier Bardem For Dark Tower Lead

It seems that Ron Howard has found his Gunslinger for his planned cross-platform adaptation of Stephen King’s legendary The Dark Tower series.

According to various reports Oscar winning actor Javier Bardem is being considered for the role. (Bardem won his Oscar for his part in 2008’s No Country For Old Men)

Ron Howard’s plan for the Dark Tower adaptations is to make three movies and a TV series where the same cast is used for both mediums.

It’s a pretty intriguing premise and one that hasn’t really been done before; a TV series running alongside a movie trilogy will, at least to my knowledge, be a first. (Please don’t hesitate to correct me if I’m wrong. But don’t say Star Trek Next-Gen, the movies happened after the TV show so it doesn’t count. And while I’m at it, TV movies don’t count either, cinematic releases only please.)

So, where was I? Dark Tower, right, the first movie is scheduled for release on May 17th, 2013 so there’s enough time for another actor to get linked to the role yet…
