Scream 4 Writer Says It Was Time For Another Scream Movie

In an interview with Collider, Scream writer Kevin Williamson kind of talked about the upcoming Scream 4 and revealed that he thinks the time is right to make another Scream movie as recently at least, slasher flicks haven’t exactly been of the highest quality…

“We haven’t had a lot of straight-ahead slasher flicks in this generation. We’re not really doing the teenager horror film right now, so maybe it’s time. I don’t see a lot of them coming out, and the ones that have come out haven’t been that successful.”

The Vampire Diaries writer wrote the first draft for Scream 4 but was reportedly annoyed when Ehren Kruger was commissioned to do some re-writes after producers; the Weinstein’s felt Williamson’s draft needed more polish.

Scream 4 is scheduled to hit cinemas on April 15 and is directed by horror movie God Wes Craven. It stars David Arquette, Neve Campbell, Courtney Cox, Emma Roberts and Rory Culkin.
