Bob Barker Is Dead! Or Is He?

No, this is not another Hollywood Twitter death that is currently the trend in Twitter nation. Bob Barker is not dead either. But his make-up scheme sure presents him as such. You will not find anyone more supportive of people who are elderly making a living and having a cash flow other than social security or diminished pension funds. If you can do a job and do it well, I say hire them. The elderly have the same bills and more as health issues chew up the cash not covered by insurance.

I am drawing a line in the sand on this issue. Bob Barker has got to quit showing up in commercials and movies that do not put him in the roll of either a dead person or an undead roll of sorts. This guy has got to spend more time in a make-up chair than 3 other fellow actors and must be a nightmare for the professionals that are fondly called make-up artists. The best in the business can not do Bob any justice, and are ruining the integrity of that profession. The make-up work done on him looks more like mortuary make-up rather than Hollywood touch-up. He is actually truly scary, I know that sounds mean but its true. The only thing I can concentrate on when he makes an appearance is the amount of make-up this guy garnishes as though he has been dipped in a vat of the stuff and hung up side down and left to dry. Somewhat like the Jack In The Box commercial that is dipping a guy in a strawberry milk shake.

In earlier years they gave him a bronze look that complimented his age and actually made him a bit distinguished. For the last five to six years the make-up people that work on him have given up the bronze look and spray paint him a horrible death hew that is not very complimentary, though it is more applicable to his age. What in the hell are they trying to cover up I ask. We see elderly people every day in every walk of life that do not have a bit of make-up on and they look just fine and represent their age. I always thought that the deep set lines of age represented character and personality, and had respect for those that wore their lines of age as a medal of a long and happy life.

One would think that a little bit of powder to get rid of the glare from the bright lights of cameras and lighting crews would be sufficient. More aging actors and actresses are getting more parts in Hollywood and rightly so, as their talent and experience should be shared by and viewed by young and old alike. I do not know if Bob is making the call as to how much make-up is applied to his face, as he is well known for his appetite for younger woman, but if he only knew how ridiculous he looks, he would probably have the make-up personnel back off a bit and stick to a little powder instead of the dunk and dry method of applying his make-up currently being used.

Having said all of that, if he sticks with his current make-up scheme, I think he and his business manager should opt for dead roles and walk-ons in horror flicks and maybe a television series like the Walking Dead as the fit would be perfect. The new Crypt Keeper may be a good option also. There is no getting around your age Bob and make-up is not making it go away.
