File this one under “yes, please.” The rumour mill has begun to churn with the news that Dances With Wolves star Kevin Costner is in talks to join the upcoming Superman reboot.

The Oscar winning director is wanted by producer Christopher Nolan and director Zack Snyder to star as Jonathan Kent, Superman’s adopted father.

Latino Review are reporting that at this moment in time, Costner has yet to sign on for the role. If he did, he would join the recently cast Henry Cavill; who will play Superman.

Superman: Man of Steel is scheduled to fly onto cinema screens in December 2012.

Last year Christopher Nolan said the following about the Superman reboot…

“It’s very exciting, we have a fantastic story…And we feel we can do it right. We know the milieu, if you will, we know the genre and how to get it done right…A lot of people have approached Superman in a lot of different ways. I only know the way that has worked for us…Each [film] serves to the internal logic of the story. They have nothing to do with each other.”
