Phantom Menace 3D Gets 2012 Release
Lucasfilm and Twentieth Century Fox have announced that the first of the long-proposed 3D Star Wars movies will hit cinemas next February.
Unfortunately for Star Wars fans over 30 years of age, Lucas is releasing the Star Wars saga in order of the episode numbers which means that next February, the 3D version of Star Wars – Episode I: The Phantom Menace will be released theatrically.
Lucas has already announced that he plans on converting all six Star Wars movies into 3D but as of right now, only Phantom Menace has been given a release date.
Hopefully, he will blast through the prequel trilogy quickly so that I don’t have wait too long to see Han and the gang pop out of the screen. Just thinking about seeing the Space Slug from Empire Strikes Back in 3D as the Millennium Falcon escapes is giving me Goosebumps.
It’s just a shame that by the time I get to see that scene or the awesome Death Star assault from Episode IV, I’ll have had to endure three awful movies. (Even though I hate them, they’re Star Wars and when a Star Wars movie is showing at the cinema, I’ve just got to go)
