Upcoming Torchwood Season Will Feel American

According to Torchwood writer John Fay, the upcoming new season of the hit sci-fi Doctor Who spinoff will have an American feel.

During a feature where he answered fan questions regarding Torchwood for the Liverpool Daily Post, Fay revealed some interesting titbits about the upcoming fourth season. He promised that Torchwood will…

“still have the same basic tone”.

And…

“Russell T. Davies and Julie Gardner remain in charge. But there are more American characters in it, so obviously it’ll probably feel more American.”

He then revealed that the writing process was “daunting”…

“The other writers in the room were phenomenal. I hadn’t met any of them before, apart from Russell Davies, but I knew their work. We got on great, I think.”

Fay then criticized the Torchwood fans who have been very public in their disapproval over the fact that Ianto Jones was killed off…

“A universe in which fictional characters aren’t ‘allowed’ to die is ridiculous and limiting. When death is a reality in a drama, the jeopardy is greater [and] the stakes are greater. In Torchwood, anyone can die. That’s a good thing.”
