NBC’s America’s Next Greatest Restaurant Review
On Sunday evening NBC premiered their new show America’s Next Greatest Restaurant. The concept was to find people around the country that had new idea’s for a new fast food restaurant chain in America. By design it kind of reminded me of the Shark Tank with one exception, the investors and mentors are not despicable. The investors are as follows; Bobby Flay, Curtis Stone, Lorena Garcia and Steve Ells.
In less than 10 minutes it was very obvious that any one that could have possibly had a good idea for a new restaurant in America could not have possibly heard of this opportunity. The field of 21 contestants was narrowed to 10 on the first hour long show. There were few idea’s that that I found even remotely different or exciting. I have five idea’s myself that would work better than all 21 contestants. Grilled cheese sandwiches, macaroni and meatballs and healthy wraps were a few of the entries that made it in to the top ten.
There is no doubt that one person will get to open three restaurants with these four investors, but I seriously doubt that I will follow the series with any kind of zeal although cooking shows are among my favorite on television. The fact that this idea is a take from Shark Tank and a failed attempt to find serious contenders with new and fresh idea’s for a new restaurant chain left me feeling a little more than disappointed in the new show. Much to do about nothing.
