80’s pop legend Phil Collins has revealed that he is planning on walking away from the music industry.

The former Genesis drummer/frontman has sold over 150 million records in his career but in an interview with FHM he claimed that he believes if he walks away from the industry, no one will miss him…

“I don’t think anyone’s going to miss me,”

He then suggested that his early fame caused many people to hate him…

“I’m sorry that it was all so successful. I honestly didn’t mean it to happen like that. It’s hardly surprising that people grew to hate me.”

Collins now lives in Switzerland and over the past few years has suffered from ill health and he revealed that his various ailments have made his job harder. He also added that he feels out of touch with the music industry as it is now…

“I look at the MTV Music Awards and I think: ‘I can’t be in the same business as this’. I don’t really belong to that world and I don’t think anyone’s going to miss me. I’m much happier to write myself out of the script entirely.”

  1. I loved Phil most of his career. But when he sank to the depths of depravity by recording “GROOVY KIND OF LOVE” I could NOT love him. That cover was the most putrid thing I have ever heard a respected artist. Who talked him into this? Phil should have fired him. And if PHIL HIMSELF had the idea to do this garbage than he deserved the hatred people dumped on him. One turd in a punch bowl can wreck a LOT of good punch.
